4 Corners Bike Rally

Friday morning we dropped the kids off at school and Tony and I headed for the 4 Corners Bike Rally, down in Durango Colorado. The ride was absolutely gorgeous. Tony has a Harley, Dyna Super Glide. It is Pewter colored. I think they call it Pewter. Anyway. He got me a back rest, and now we are ready to ride!
These shots are from the top of Douglas Pass.

We headed down through the Million Dollar Highway. I guess it's called that because it cost that much to make the road, back when it was made. Man is it a beautiful sight. We went through Ouray, and Silverton. At the top of Ouray, we took these photos.

And I think this one is Silverton.

We passed a mountain called Red Mountain. It was Red & Yellow, and the run off from it must have made the river yellow. It was gross, but pretty at the same time. Ha!

We passed a lot of old Mining Sites. Some have actually been reclaimed, but the old stuff was still there. You may have to click on the pictures to see it in the background. Okay, even then you may not be able to see it.

This is just beautiful....not me...the Mountains. lol

Okay, so I was sitting on the back of this Harley, looking at all the beautiful mountains, and talking to Tony occasionally, but mostly thinking. I'm a dork, I'll admit....I started taking pictures from the back of the bike. Some actually turned out pretty good. The hardest part was trying to get Tony & I into the pictures. My arm is only so long you know. I ended up having to turn the camera upside down, and still I could only fit our heads. But they are such nice heads. hee hee

Later, on another day, I took one of our shadow. I actually think this is a pretty cool picture.

And, as I rode along, I got a great idea. I know you would all just love to take a ride on the Harley, with Tony. So here's your chance. A simulated ride. You'll have to provide the wind tho. It's just a short ride, no need to be nervous! ;)

Here are some pictures of Historic Downtown Durango. Tony says this is nothing compared to Sturgis. But it was still a lot of bikes.

I know you're jealous of my chaps. They are so sexy! LOL! They really are quite helpful too! I didn't feel bullet bugs hitting my legs while going down the road, and it kept my legs a little warmer in the cold wind. Who knew?

When we got up to head home Sunday, this is what awaited us.....

RAIN!!! We decided to brave it down to town, to eat breakfast, and see what happened after that. Let me tell you....rain hurts when it hits your forehead at 50 mph. Dang! Good think my loving husband had bought me a nice jacket just in case there was rain. Maybe he has ESP.

So we ate breakfast, and the whole time we were eating, the rain had stopped. Of course as soon as we went to leave...RAIN! What the heck? Well, we pushed on. It got pretty painful for a while, but we made it out of the rain. We dried up and then ha ha ha the sky said and dumped on us again. We got soaked and dried out again about 4 times before we finally got home. It was quite an experience and a memory. Here I am in my full biker dress.

And here me and Tony are. This picture and the one above were taken in Moab.

We had a lot of fun! Can't wait to do it again!

Here are the rest of the photos we took:
